How to properly sign out from Windows Virtual Desktop (WVD)
One of the more frequent issues users encounter when trying to connect to Windows Virtual Desktop, is once they disconnect from a successful session, they have issues connecting back into the same remote session. This is caused sometimes by disconnecting and not signing out properly. This document will go over how to properly sign out to ensure a good reconnection to your remote desktop session.
When signed into Windows Virtual Desktop, in the blue bar on the top center there is a “X” button to close the window. Users want to avoid disconnecting in this manner as it just closes the window. It does not end your remote desktop session. By clicking the “X”, the remote desktop session can then become hung/stalled when trying to reconnect, as there are multiple instances attempting to be initialized, causing the attempt to fail. For that reason, users want to avoid using the “X” to close out of their remote session. See the image below:
Instead users should use the “Sign Out “option under their name in the upper right. Selecting this option ensures closure of all remote sessions, and ensures a fresh connection when attempting to reconnect, avoiding any possible hung session situations. Click on your name to get the Sign Out option. See the image below:
